IRISH FILM FESTA and Officine UBU distribution company present The Quiet Girl (An Cailín Ciúin) by Colm Bairéad in a special premiere screening on Sunday the 12th of February, 2023, at 4.15 pm. The film will be screened in the original language (Irish) with Italian subtitles at Rome‘s Cinema Nuovo Sacher. The screening will be introduced by the IFF’s artistic director, Susanna Pellis.
The Quiet Girl, Colm Bairéad’s debut feature film, is the first ever Irish-language film to receive an Oscar nomination, in the best international film category. Release date in Italian cinemas is the 16th of February.
Over the years, IRISH FILM FESTA has presented several Irish-language films (two last year alone, Foscadh and Róise & Frank). IFF is delighted with the extraordinary international accolades The Quiet Girl has received to date, and is proud and honoured to present it to the Italian public in collaboration with the Officine UBU company.
