Festive special screening at the Casa del Cinema

IRISH FILM FESTA is taking part in the Casa del Cinema’s festive programme with a special screening of Philip Doherty’s debut feature Redemption of a Rogue on Friday, January 6th at 6:30 pm.

Doherty is an award-winning playwright, theatre director and filmmaker from Cavan in Ireland; Redemption of a Rogue, a black comedy about a prodigal son returning to his hometown to seek salvation for his sins, premiered at Galway Film Fleadh 2020 where it won major awards for Best Irish Film and Best Irish First Feature.

Leading actor Aaron Monaghan introduced Redemption of a Rogue as «dark, unique, Irish, something special» to the audience of the Casa del Cinema outdoor theatre, where the film was successfully screened last July as part of the IRISH FILM FESTA Summer edition.

«Something truly special: Redemption of a Rogue is one of the best Irish films of recent years. Produced in 2020 by a small community of West Cavan artists, it won hands down at the virtual edition of the Galway Film Fleadh though it had to wait many months before arriving on the big screen in Ireland. We had to wait until last summer to bring it to Italy, to Rome’s Casa del Cinema arena. We propose it again both for those who did not see it then and for those who wish to enjoy it once more in the place for which it was designed: the cinema», says Susanna Pellis, IRISH FILM FESTA’s artistic director.
