Synopsis

A modern fairytale about the Irish Travellers. Impoverished in Dublin, youngsters Ossie and Tayto live with their widowed father, who drowns his grief in drink. Their grim existence is uplifted by the arrival of their itinerant grandfather, who has brought with him a magical horse from legend – Tir na nÓg. But when crooked cops discover the prized animal, they commandeer it, intending to sell it as a racing horse. Furious, the boys resolve to rescue the mythical creature.

 

Director

Born in Hertfordshire, England, in 1942, Mike Newell has worked as a television director since the 60s. Amon his best known and most succesful film are Dance with a Stranger (1985), Enchanted April (1991), Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994), An Awfully Big Adventure (1995), Donnie Brasco (1997), Mona Lisa Smile (2005), Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (2005), Love in the Time of Cholera (2007), Great Expectations (2012).
